“Work for me,” he said, sitting back with the coffee mug between his hands.

The light left her face and she shifted in her seat. “Are you sure that’s a good idea?” She placed her fork down, as if her appetite had vanished.

“I think it’s the perfect idea. You need a job and I’m hiring. Work for me, Tessa.”

She smiled weakly and shrugged. “I’ll think about it.”

Not good enough. Maybe she was too proud to accept his help. Either that or the nature of their relationship complicated matters. He’d fucked her and planned to continue fucking Tessa for as long as they had, which didn’t make him exemplary boss material. This was exactly why he’d never mixed business and pleasure before, no matter how cute he found some of those waitresses in his restaurants.

After breakfast, Richard escaped to the porch with his laptop and iPhone to get some work done. Tessa said she needed a few hours to fix the rooms, get the laundry going, and clean all the bathrooms. He allowed her to wear clothes for the housework, but instructed her to greet him wearing nothing but the apron at lunchtime, threatening her with a dose of the wooden spoon if she didn’t comply.

He gazed out at the blue-white waves crashing on the sandy shore, appreciating the beautiful view. Even though he lived in Ocean City, he didn’t visit or look upon the ocean often. It always relaxed him, and he vowed to do it more often instead of taking it for granted and working too much to enjoy the comforts of the surrounding world. The sun shined bright and warm through the windows, despite the low temperature outside.

Hours passed and Richard glanced at the time after finishing his work for the day. Almost one in the afternoon. He closed his laptop and placed it back in its bag and shoved his phone in his pocket. Where was Tessa? He stood up to search for her just as she entered the porch carrying a tray of food. As instructed, she wore the apron and nothing else.

“I thought we could enjoy lunch out here today,” she said pleasantly, smiling as she placed their lunch down on the coffee table in front of the loveseat Richard had been sitting on. He couldn’t help but return her smile.

“That sounds wonderful, Tessa.” He sat down and eyed the plates. She’d made BLTs with homemade sweet potato fries. “It looks delicious.”

She blushed. “Thank you, Mr. Black.”

Mr. Black. Should he allow her to call him Richard? If they entered a more permanent D/s relationship, she would address him as Sir most of the time. The name confusion almost caused him to groan aloud in frustration. He decided to settle the matter later.

Their lunch conversation was much livelier than during breakfast. And lunch was, of course, as delicious as it looked. Richard decided to spill his guts as much as possible about his private life.
